Here's 5 facts about Me and pregnancy:
1. I break out like a teenager. It's horrible, embrassing and of course I can't use anything strong (or anything that actually works) because I am, well you know.
2. I have the appetite of a gorilla. After church one Sunday a few weeks back I ate about 9-10 pieces of french toast. Needless to say this made some alarms start ringing with the parents and they wondered why on earth I was eating so much. I am starving-tummy growling on the edge of passing out starving numerous times a day. Although I would appreciate not gaining nearly 60 lbs this time around I am wondering if it's really unavoidable?! : )
3. I can cry even more uncontrallably then before the hormones started raging. Case in point: I bawled at the thought of 'cheating' on Riley and not having a big enough heart to love 2 babies. I bawled the whole time we watched P.S. I Love You on Saturday-THE WHOLE TIME. I gave myself one hell of a headache and went through a whole box of Kleenex (nearly). I can cry on lunch break rather easily when I think about Riley and realize how much I miss him. That is why I read and walk-briskly and for a good 35 minutes. Then all I can think about is going back to work for 2 hours and stinking. (My co-workers tease me that my brisk walking looks like I am running. What can I say I do everything with intention.!)
4. Pregnancy makes me a nester for the whole 40 weeks. I have been utterly obsessed with yardwork this week. I have mowed twice, weeded my pitiful, tiny, round, neglected for many years 'garden' til there was no more weeds left, filled the yardwaste bin twice with sticks, twigs, leaves whatever was lying on the grass (I hate even 1 leaf on my grass-yes, I have a little OCD), weeded out the rocks in front of our house and now I have my eyes set on the weeds in the cracks of our driveway.
5. Pregnancy brain is real for me. I sent Riley and D to the Dr's office for his 2 year old well check at 6:30 on Monday only to get a text from D at 7:00 asking if I hated him?! OOPS-the stupid appt wasn't until Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. so for 2 days in a row he had to get up at 5:30, wake the boy up and drive to the clinic and then all the way back to Andover. Riley was so confused to be woken up on Monday that he didn't mind the visit but on Tuesday he had smartened up and wasn't so enthused to be up so early. And even worse the fridges went out Monday evening so the vaccines had gone bad so we have to make the trek there again on Friday for his shot. Stupid. Should have checked the calendar but didn't.

Forgot to mention that we had an eventful wknd with Riley's Farm Party! Fun, friends, family and farm animals equalled one exciting day and he had a blast. As soon as I get a chance to go through my pictures I will post the details. For now we are all still recovering from a full day of smiles and sun. Love you Riley Man.
Please also keep my dear friend Becky H in your prayers. She and I had our sons on the same day in 2008 and now she has had her 2nd son at 27 weeks gestation. Keegan David is doing amazingly well but at only 3 lbs he still has a long way to go. Becky only gets to hold him for 60 minutes each day and I can only imagine what it feels like to leave your baby at the hospital. I will post some pictures of him as soon as he gets some more fat on his tiny body.

Never share a secret with your 2 year old! : )
If you haven't already heard we are indeed expecting a tiny baby to make an appearance around Feb 6th, 2011-Wowza 2011!?! or wowza baby numero dos!
Yes, Derrick and I like to say we plan pregnancy but much to our dismay there is nothing that goes right for us during the 'trying' stage. To put it simply and for the sake of any readers out there (aka my Dad) who don't necessarily want the details we have been trying since March/April 2009. We knew it would take awhile and we were super relaxed about it up until about Dec 2009 (when I first cried over getting a period) and Mar 2010 (post Mexico when Derrick said it's time to see the Dr.) So yes, there is a long story behind our second-highly anticipated, completely humbling, wonderfully overwhelming little gummy bear (look at that picture!-cute little gummy!) But we shall save that for another day.
I found out about the pregnancy on May 29th after having friends over for movies and junk food I thought I would take a quick test and of course I had so many boxes of 'sticks' that I finally just shoved them all into one container-quite stupidly and of course I couldn't tell which was which or how to read one from the other so after 3 consecutive tests I decided this would better be handled in the morning (it was like 2 a.m. by this time) and then Derrick could be home also. Needless to say, I couldn't wait for D so I took a few more tests and decided that I must be pregnant. D came home and immediately asked if I had gotten my period and I nonchalantly answered not yet and when he finally went to the bathroom he frantically came out asking what the 5 tests meant. I had to answer honestly and tell him I am a moron for mixing tests in one box and not saving directions so we broke down and bought another box of 2 tests complete with instructions. The rest is history. Derrick was shocked, Riley was feeding off of the excitement by whooping and hollering and I cried myself to sleep that night because I was irrationally feeling like I was cheating on my Riley Man by wanting, loving, anticipating and dreaming about this new baby. Completely hormonal and sleep deprived=a completely vulnerable, emotional and tearful Lindsey.
We bought Riley a big brother shirt and put it on his bear-he sleeps with it every night : ) . We talk to him about the baby and he seems to understand. In church, the grocery store, Target-let's just say anywhere if he sees a baby he starts squealing mommy baby, mommy baby, and then proceeds to lift my shirt up to somehow prove his point. He tell him how big of a boy he is and how proud we are of him and then we try to explain that he will soon sleep in his big boy bed and a new baby will sleep in the crib. We have ALOT of time to talk so although he might not get it-it doesn't stop me from babbling to him about it.
Although I have been exhausted pregnancy still suits me and the exhaustion is understandable. This time around I don't work at 10:30 a.m. and average 11 hours of sleep each night. This time around I am not playing hockey, golf, cars and tools with a 2-year-old. This time around I am not sitting on the couch after work and watching TV until bedtime.
BUT
This time around I am home by 3 and D makes sure I am getting a nap everyday. This time around Riley hugs me everyday (numerous times) and tries to kiss my belly. This time around I get to enjoy and soak up as much alone time with my toddler as possible playing cars, hockey, golf and running around at the park. This time around I am not at all nervous about pregnancy/birth and am just enjoying every single day I am pregnant.
AND EVEN BETTER.
I am now 12 weeks and 1 day along and it feels as though a light switch has been turned on. My NRG is back and I have managed to wash sheets and towels, vacuum, do the dishes, mow the lawn with Riley, give him a bath, brush his teeth, read a story and put him to bed all in one Monday night with NO nap!!! Yay-please feel the same tomorrow! I was really starting to feel useless and moldy!
I will close with how amazed I feel at the miracle of pregnancy. We feel so honored and humbled to once again be able to be parents to a little one. It just about knocks me over to think that my Little Man will be a BIG brother soon. Although convenience would say a boy would be easier we/I will be completely content with whatever is given to us. (I had very strong feelings it was a boy earlier and now D has really thrown me off with all of his girl talk) Either way we are prepared with names already and we are just going to strap in and enjoy the next 28 weeks because these are the last 28 weeks of our family of 3 and they will fly by.
For now here's our sweet gummy bear at just 9 weeks and 2 days, measuring just over an inch long and moving around like crazy. Tears flowed easily when I saw him/her and D just beamed with pride. We LOVE this little one so and have for a long time already!

Proud to be an American.
We had an AWESOME 4th again this year at the annual Hutchie Hoopla! I made a new appetizer that was a hit-mini-weiners wrapped in bacon and smothered in brown sugar. They didn't last long! We enjoyed the company of family, played b-ball, croquet and chase the kiddo's all day long. We stuffed ourselves sufficiently and I actually snuck a cat-nap in with one of my cousins on an adjacent couch. (YES, we Hutchie's LOVE our naps!) Riley had so much fun with the kids and the sprinklers and he really loved being able to reach his little hands up and raid the food table. We even made it to the fireworks over at Sand Creek and luckily D's cousins let us park in their driveway. It was packed and we left early so we didn't have to fight with all the traffic. Riley wanted me to cover his ears (I guess we were sitting closer than we thought) but he "ooohed and ahhhed" the entire time. When we got home he was signing for 'more' and we stood in the driveway and watched fireworks go off all around us! He slept like a champ afterwards and we were thankful for a late morning start the next day after a full day of celebrating!
More of our Riley Man at 2
Warning: I use this blog as more of a life journal...I will be ordering a copy from Blog2print at the end of the year and each subsequent year (I know as if I need one more journal/scrapbook of pictures...) so although it's not the most interesting reading the pictures might still be fun?!
Riley-you are so full of life and you make the funniest faces and gestures everyday. When something is super funny to you or you are just trying to keep up with the big people's version of funny you slap your knee and throw your head back to laugh. You sign 'more' for everything from wanting us to tickle you more, wanting to say more prayers, you sign 'more' for a bigger push on the swings and you sign 'more' when we make you laugh, you have taken signing 'more' to a whole new level beyond 'more' food. You crack us up when we see you signing more at the funniest times.
You also sign 'thank you', 'sorry', 'please', (which is Katie's absolute favorite!) and 'all done'. Almost immediately after you know you just did something you shouldn't have you are signing sorry and running over to us to give us a sweet hug which usually gets you out of a time out but not always.
You laugh as you try to ride Deuce and you think it's hilarious when he licks and nips at you, unless you are tired then it's just not at all funny. You also snuggle with Deuce almost every morning. Cute, but a very hairy endeavor that drives Mommy nutso!
You are going to the bathroom on your potty chair 55% of the time and after a successful sit down you stand up with your fingers in the #1 position screaming "woo hoo, pee pee, woo hoo, pee pee" we laugh and chant this the whole time until the pee pee is all gone. You love wearing big boy underwears and are getting pretty good at pulling them down and grabbing new unders after an accident.
You are such a lover and sensitive little boy. You give lots of hugs and kisses and rub our backs when you can tell we are sad or tired.
You are so excited for your party and you throw your arms up and say "two" while pointing to yourself and exclaiming "woo hoo."
You talk all the time and we try to understand what your saying but most of the time you are pulling us over to what you mean. When we are out driving and you see a black car it's always "Daddy's Dar", if it's silver it's "Kaydee's Dar" and if it's a truck it's always "Mommy's Dar."
When we are pulling up to our house you are chanting to yourself "mommy house, daddy house, mommy house, daddy house, deuce house, mommy house", and then you point to yourself and say house because you have no idea how to say Riley and haven't even attempted it.
You love to help mommy bake and Daddy cook. You pour flour into the bowls, noodles into the pan and Daddy let's you help stir while Mommy let's you lick the mixers. Most of the time though you are content to sit on the counters and watch what is going on though.
You call G'ma Hutch-Nana and not Mommy...finally! You call G'pa Hutch-Papa and every motorcycle you see reminds you of Papa so you talk about him non stop for a good 5 minutes.
While we were at Costco this weekend we told you it was time to go home and you grabbed my cell phone and were trying to call Nana and Papa-apparently you wanted them to save you. When you couldn't dial out you looked at me with defeat in your eyes, held up the cell and whispered 'Mommy, Nana and Papa" and then signed 'please.' We went home anyways and you violently shook your head no and wailed "no house, no house." It just made us snicker at how funny and perceptive you are because if Nana and Papa were there they probably would have taken you home with them and then you wouldn't have had to spend another Saturday night with Mommy and Daddy ; )
You love to play with your toys and just by us adding a mattress to the livingroom from your new big boy bed you entertained yourself for hours. You are inquisitive and very thoughtful. You watch from a distance and then you jump in and have a blast.
Mommy took you to the Little Gym last week for a fun celebration and the 2-year-old and under room was of no interest to you, you watched the big kids playing and with-in minutes were attempting sommersaults, making baskets and running around joyously. You even asked very nicely to have your face painted and you thanked the young lady afterwards. You LOVE having your face painted! "ball mommy, ball!"
We find you singing to yourself a special song "mommydaddydaddymommydeuceydaddymommmydaddy" in a quiet, sweet little voice as you play.
Basically, you are the cutest thing we have ever seen and you make us smile and laugh everyday. Love you Little Man and we can't wait to see what this year holds for you!

Photo faves
Just a few faves from Riley's 2 year old shoot with Mommy at River's Bend Park. We still need to get back out and take a few since he wasn't feeling quite like his usual self this day but haven't found the time yet.
Loving this collage! and the next too!
So much fun, such a great sport, my little Love.

Our Little Man has now turned 2!
Wow, July 1st came fast.
blink.
Goodbye June.
blink.
Hello 2nd birthday.
blink.
July is so booked that we will celebrate on July 25th.
blink.
I better get started planning or no one will show up!
Riley, our active, well behaved, entertaining, (for the most part) great listening, loving, cuddly, cute as a squirrel (if you think squirrels are cute?!) TWO-YEAR-OLD...EEEKKK we have a 2 year old! For the most part it doesn't feel like much has changed in a year. Riley is talking alot more and not falling nearly as much but thankfully he isn't growing up as fast as he did that first year. We are just enjoying life as simply as possible and continuing to take way too many pictures.
Riley you are speaking so many more words this year including,
hi, baby, book, more, star, house, door, dog, howie, bye, ball, katie, car, hot and your favorite the last few weeks no, no. Although it sounds really cute coming out of your mouth we are trying very hard not to snicker at it!
You are wearing size 5 shoes, 18-24 month old clothes, size 12 month old shorts because of your super skinny waist and you weigh about 22 lbs.
You love to play with all kinds of cars and trucks and you spend a huge amount of your time re-arranging them and 'driving' them all over the house. You love to be read to and Howie books are your favorite right now.
You are sleeping from about 7:45-7:15 or so and napping for about 2 hours in the late morning.
Mommy and Daddy still fight over who gets to carry you to bed because we both love to hold your snuggly body as we walk down the hall.
You give kisses and hugs all the time and say hi to just about everyone.
You have become an independent player and will play by yourself for an hour while we finish up dishes or cooking. Although you love to have company on the floor also! : )
We spent your b-day still recovering from the nasty illness that left Mommy near tears, Daddy unable to swallow and you coughing like a seal. No good, no fun, and please don't ever come back! We headed to Benigans for your b-day dinner of mac and cheese and of course a huge b-day sundae
and then we went to Toy Story 3 in 3D. (don't see it in 3D...waste of money) You got in free for your b-day and sat really well through the ridiculous 30 minute previews with your glasses on but about an hour into the movie got really antsy and Mommy had to walk you up and down the stairs and let you run free for awhile. Don't worry there wasn't many people in the theatre and to be honest Mommy was antsy too!

You opened up presents like a pro this year and even blew out your candles. You read through the cards like the thoughtful, patient boy you are and you you were so happy with everything you got.
You make us so proud and we celebrated all weekend with left over cake, a trip to the MOA and park pictures (I am not done-you didn't give me your best smiles because of the sickies so we will be going back for more next week!)
Love you Little Man and Happy Birthday!
Mommy is planning your baaaa-irthday for the end of the month so we will celebrate again!
Our week in as little words as possible.
Riley was in VBS all week at church so naptime was a little messed up...he ended sleeping with Daddy on the couch before supper most evenings.

This picture has a dreamy feel to it...I love it!

We took a few bike rides around the river and our neighborhood.
After watching the huge storm we decided to throw on our raincoats and let Riley play in the underwater world the rain had created. He had a blast (although I wasn't quick enough to catch his grins) and was ready for a bath/bedtime after!
Riley and I set an alarm and headed down to Como for the "Walk for Life" sponsored by New Life Family Svcs. We had a blast and did our share of sweating. (the day looked gloomy at 7:00 so before actually stepping outside to check the weather I put sweatpants and sweatshirts on both of us...big mistake!) The weather cleared up and was beautiful. They had games for the kids, a bouncy house, music, food and drink and lots of fellowship. We will be eager supporters again next year!
We did lot's of playing outside on our new slide and tree swing. Don't ya love tree swings. One push and they go forever in big relaxing swings back and forth. Riley loves his "wee's" and we love our big backyard.
This picture has a dreamy feel to it...I love it!
